Special Requirements in PMO Training

Since covid, we have seen a huge shift into virtual training. All our public training courses are now delivered virtually via Zoom. Taking part in a virtual classroom comes with many benefits such as feeling comfortable in your own home/office, less travel, and fewer expenses.

However, we know every learner’s needs are different and individuals may have various special or additional requirements to ensure they can fully engage and succeed in the learning process. These needs can vary depending on factors such as the learner’s background, abilities, and the nature of the course.

Here are some additional needs that learners may require and how PMO Learning aims to make our online learning more accessible;

Technical Support

Technical Assistance – We provide joining instructions a couple of weeks before the course which details all of the technical requirements needed for the course and any exams with links to test your equipment. Our staff are always on hand to assist with any technical queries and provide guidance through the steps.

Clear and Consistent Structure

Structured Layout – Our joining instructions give a structured timetable of our courses which outlines the sessions and regular breaks for learners which we try to keep consistent each day. Our trainer will also give an overview of what content is going to be covered at the start of each day and a recap at the end.

Accessibility Needs

Subtitles – our training courses are taught via Zoom which has the functionality to add captions during the training course.
Adjustable Text Sizes – Our content can be adjusted to allow for font size adjustments.

Learning Styles and Preferences

Interactive Elements – Our virtual courses include quizzes, polls, and discussions to help engage learners who benefit from interactive learning.
Alternative Formats – All our courses include PDF and hard copies of the delegate workbook which includes all the presentation slides and areas for notetaking for those who prefer online reading or writing down notes.
Self-Paced Options – Some learners may need flexibility in timing, allowing them to progress at their own pace. We have eLearning options such as P3O® Foundation eLearning or P3O® distance learning for those who prefer self-paced options.

Additional Time

Exams – For our Certification products such as the Essentials suite, P3O® and MoP®, both APMG and PeopleCert offer extra time for those that require it. For example, if English is not your first language you will be asked to submit your first language and the extra time will automatically be added to your account.

Communication and Support

Clear Communication Channels – We provide multiple communication channels for all our learners (email, phone, chat, etc.) to reach instructors or peers.
Direct and Literal Language – All our instructors are trained to use clear and literal language when teaching our training courses.
Regular Check-ins – Our trainers may conduct regular check-ins with learners to assess their progress and address any issues.
Peer Support – Our virtual classroom courses host up to 12 delegates with opportunities for peer interaction through discussion boards, group work, or virtual study groups.
Trainer Engagement – All our trainers have experience working in or managing PMOs, they will always try to understand your current role and relate any content to your job or give real-life examples to provide further understanding.
