It’s coming to the end of August which means it’s nearly time for kids to go back to school, Autumn is approaching so the leaves are changing, and the air becomes crisper. It’s also a busy work period working towards the end of the year, and as the pace of work intensifies, it’s important to have a healthy work-life balance.
Now is a great time for PMO professionals to personally reflect, take stock of their career and personal lives, and look at areas they can focus on.
This week we’ve taken a look at 5 things every PMO professional can do this Autumn:
- Work-life balance – Rather than continuously working and eating lunch at your desk, take that time to go for a walk, listen to a podcast or a webinar, and take that well-deserved break. If you want to listen to a webinar this week on your lunch break, take a look at our catalogue of webinars, lunch and learns, and taster sessions.
- Focus on your mental health/well-being – Your mental health and well-being are just as important as physical health. Use this season to evaluate your daily routine and allocate time for relaxation and mindfulness. Mindfulness can help you stay centered, and focused, and enhance your overall sense of well-being. - Invest in your learning – Personal development is an ongoing journey. Investing in your learning will not only help you as a professional but also your business. You could take personal courses to enhance your skills, or you could look at PMO certifications or specialist courses to enhance your knowledge and continue your career development.
- Connect and network – Networking isn’t just for meeting other professionals at conferences or on LinkedIn, it’s also important for your personal life. Use this autumn as an opportunity to reach out to colleagues for catch-ups outside of work, reconnect with old friends, and attend social events that you enjoy in your free time.
Here are some professional events you might enjoy – Global Project Profession Forum – Seville – 21 September 2023: Follow IPMA: International Project Management Association for details. However, this autumn is a perfect time to set some personal goals, whether that be travel destinations you want to visit in the next year, exercise goals, or acquiring a new skill.
There are many personal things that PMO professionals can do this autumn to take care of their well-being and set themselves up for success in their careers.
